Admitted Student Checklist

You will need to take a number of important steps to enroll once you receive your offer of admission. Information contained in your admission packet and the steps below will help you transition to UNM easily.

New Student Checklist

Create your NetID - Go to myUNM and select “Create Your UNM NetID”. Follow the instructions to establish your account. Once you create your account, you will be able to view your financial aid information, plan your degree, check your Bursar’s account and more. You also will have a student email address – be sure to check this often for important information or forward to an email address you will check.

Sign-up for New Student Orientation - All new freshmen are required to attend a New Student Orientation Program (NSO). These two day events are carefully designed to make your transition to college easier. During your NSO session you will meet with your academic advisor and register for your first semester of courses, get your Lobo Card (student ID), learn your way around campus and much more. Sign-up for your NSO session online at nso.unm.edu

Apply for Financial Aid - Complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and submit to UNM by March 1 for best possible consideration if you have been admitted to the Fall Term. Be sure to accept any scholarships offered by UNM using your LoboWeb account. Additionally, if you are attending the summer term, be sure to complete and submit the FAFSA from the previous year to be considered for summer aid. Our Financial Aid Office is always happy to help if you have questions.

Apply for Campus Housing - Living on campus is required for first-time freshmen because it is a proven way to help you succeed. Students who live on campus have higher grade point averages, graduate earlier and enjoy their college experience more than students who live off-campus. Students living with a parent or guardian within 30 miles of main campus may be granted an exemption to this requirements. To see a list of exemptions, apply for housing, and to view our different types of accommodations, visit housing.unm.edu

Send Final Transcripts - If you were provisionally admitted to UNM pending final credentials, please have your final transcripts or other necessary credentials mailed to the Admissions Office as soon as you finish: Office of Admissions, PO Box 4895, Albuquerque, NM 87196-4895. Transcripts must be in a sealed envelope from the issuing college or school.
