Admission, Scholarships, and Opportunities
The University offers more than $150 million in scholarships and grant aid. A college degree is possible, and we're here to help.

The application for admission is easy to do and the information you provide will be confidential; it takes about fifteen minutes to complete and applicants can self-report information, such as grade point average and standardized test results (if available).
The requirements:
- Graduate from a High School (or will graduate).
- Self-report grade point average or submit a high school transcript.
- $25 application fee
New Mexico Lottery Scholarship - scholarships.unm.edu
The New Mexico Lottery Scholarship covers 100% of tuition for eligible students at the University of New Mexico (UNM). Awards begin after completion of a qualifying semester of college-level courses and approximately $3,500 per semester ($7,000 per year) is provided. Students can receive the scholarship for up to seven semesters.
The requirements:
- Graduate from a New Mexico high school (or will graduate).
- Entering college for the first time and completing a semester with 15 credits and a grade point average of 2.50 or higher during the first semester at UNM.
- Complete the FAFSA (or the State Aid Application form available at finaid.unm.edu/2022 if you do not have a social security number).
- Be a resident of the State regardless of your immigration status.
Opportunity Scholarship - scholarships.unm.edu
The Opportunity Scholarship covers up to 100% of tuition and fees, in addition to other state aid the student may be receiving, such as the New Mexico Lottery Scholarship. Students can receive the scholarship for up to seven semesters.
The requirements:
- Graduate from a New Mexico high school (or will graduate).
- Entering college for the first time and completing a semester with 15 credits and a grade point average of 2.50 or higher during the first semester at UNM.
